The Fives Downtown Hotel - Curio Collection by Hilton

The location is a big highlight — very central and close to restaurants, shops, and the beach, making it convenient for exploring (we went in tours to Tulum, Chichen Itza & Xcaret during our stay). The hotel itself is modern and comfortable, with spacious rooms and an amazing rooftop pool. Breakfast was solid with a good variety to start the day. Our room (Superior King room) faced the interior courtyard, and we had no trouble with noise. Rooms were clean and well maintained. One thing to note: there is a 10 USD per night resort fee that we weren’t aware of before arriving. In addition, a refundable 5000 MXN deposit is required at check-in and can only be paid by credit card — this also wasn’t communicated to us in advance.

We had the absolute BEST service from Jesus Marquez at the pool. He was very attentive, friendly, kind, and made our time at the Fives Hotel memorable. When you come here ask for him, he’ll treat you really well!! Everyone else was very great too, but had to mention the amazing, above and beyond service from Jesus. The rooms at the Fives are also very clean, cozy, and quiet. All together a great vacation spot!

The whole hotel is starting to look tired and needing a refresh. The staff are so pleasant and helpful. Location is good, and views from the rooftop pool are nice. Breakfast is OK, bedrooms are clean and tidy, lots of storage options, but not sound proof. A balcony would have been nice but these look limited. The WiFi is excellent, for those that can't step away from life and just enjoy being on holiday. The water feature in the main area is covered over now, health and safety police now Mexico lol.

We had a fantastic stay at The Fives Beach Hotel & Residences in Playa del Carmen. The property is beautiful, the grounds are well maintained, and there’s a great mix of relaxation and activity throughout the resort. The rooms were comfortable and spacious, and the overall atmosphere felt welcoming and upscale without being pretentious. Be cautious if you book a Superior room through Sunwing you do not get a balcony no matter what the photos look like. What truly made our experience stand out was the exceptional service — especially from Mariana at breakfast. She greeted us each morning with genuine warmth and remembered our preferences, which made us feel incredibly well taken care of. Her attention to detail and friendly personality set the tone for our entire day. Hector was equally outstanding, both at breakfast and later at the poolside. He went above and beyond to ensure we always had what we needed, checked in thoughtfully without being intrusive, and consistently delivered service with a smile. His positive energy and professionalism made a noticeable difference in our stay. The only reason this isn’t a full 5 stars is due to a few minor hiccups, (the lack of balcony) but they were far outweighed by the overall experience and the incredible hospitality from the staff. We would absolutely return and highly recommend this resort — especially if you have the pleasure of being looked after by Mariana and Hector!

We had a fabulous stay at the five downtown hotel and residences. All the staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful. The bar staff and the breakfast staff were very attentive. Special shout out to Daniel on reception who welcomed us and was extremely helpful. Also to Hector for his service in the restaurant. We had hydrotherapy session in the spa as part of our stay and were looked after by both Vanessa and Marie which was relaxing and enjoyable.

Absolutely fantastic stay. This is a beautiful resort with a perfect balance of comfort, style, and convenience. The staff was genuinely friendly and welcoming throughout our visit, and the location could not be better—walking distance to the ferry and close to everything, yet tucked away from the heavy tourist traffic. You get peace and quiet while still being steps away from all the action. A special thank you to Jesus Colli, the front desk supervisor. His hospitality was outstanding. Despite the hotel being fully booked, he ensured a smooth and seamless check-in and truly went above and beyond to make us feel taken care of. Honestly, I would come back to Playa del Carmen just to stay here again. Highly recommended.

Mr. Eduardo Reception, Mr. Jesus Reception,Mr. Renzo and Chef Roberto and the rest of the staff were great!The food was delicious. The hotel’s location is great, close to literally everything. Taxi service right out side the hotel, restaurants, convenience stores and banks. I was very impressed of how clean the Hotel was kept during my stay. There was literally someone cleaning everytime I stepped out my room hallways common area etc. The breakfast was amazing but the Rooftop Restaurant was the best. The seafood food was amazingly fresh. The views from the rooftop pool area are stunning. One of the best vacations I’ve had and a huge part of it was because of the staff.

Mariana is the best waitress. It is really nice to have a smiling face with the amazing coffee to start your day!!! Will definitely come back here! Such warm people, great location and clean room!!! Vanessa is so good! The massage is worth it plus the hydrotherapy was an amazing bonus.
